Karsten Moholt received a 15 kW three-phase motor for overhaul. The motor was badly affected by water ingress and rust. The bearings and fan covers on the motor were changed and it was offshore-painted. The motor was tested and vibration control carried out before it was returned to the customer.
Rotor and stator windings were in poor condition, and the bearings were worn on DE and ND. Brushes, commutator and brush rocker rings had to be repaired. The brush rocker ring was renovated, new brushes were made and installed, and the windings in rotor and stator were repaired.
The Field Service Department has completed an assignment for Sea Launch in Malaysia. The end shields were disassembled, the brush rocker rings were repaired, all the brushes were replaced and adjusted, the motors were cleaned and two of the DC propulsion engines were replaced.
The stator was reconstructed and tested according to our procedures for this type of work. The measurement result (PD, TD, PI, IR) after winding was excellent. The generator was painted and the air-cooling system was overhauled and tested.
DOF receives electronic reports with maintenance recommendations from Karsten Moholt AS through our self-developed web reporting tool (My CBM). These reports are based on the actual condition of the equipment, which is detected through vibration measurements and analysis.
