The vibration course was held for the crew at Stena Drilling The course combined theory and interactive tasks with Pruftechnik instruments. After completing the course, the participants had a good understanding of why we monitor the condition of rotating machinery (and other critical components), the importance of improved predictability and how vibrations can be properly measured and analysed to provide an early warning for a wide range of common errors.
COSL needed to recertify and document that their rigs COSL Innovator and COSL Pioneer were in accordance with relevant standards and government requirements. Karsten Moholt overhauled and repaired their Ex motors on board the rigs and in our workshop at Askøy.
COSL Pioneer & COSL Innovator
Enhanced Drilling needed do calculate the expected lifetime of their pumps. The pumps are barriers and were identified as critical equipment. Karsten Moholt 3D scanned the pumps and documented their current wear to be able to predict their future wear.
Karsten Moholt received a 15 kW three-phase motor for overhaul. The motor was badly affected by water ingress and rust. The bearings and fan covers on the motor were changed and it was offshore-painted. The motor was tested and vibration control carried out before it was returned to the customer.
